Hello everyone! I’m a bit late to the draw this month, but here is our monthly summery of everything new and exciting that’s happening at Griffeys’ in October:
What’s New In Store
-Better organization! We’ve reorganized the store yet again to make things easer to find and make browsing a better experience. Fiction is now in the front of the store, and nonfiction is in the back. Plus, we have new signage to help you find what you’re looking for!

-Cheyenne Van Langevelde’s novels are back in stock! Local author and friend of the store Cheyenne Van Langevelde joined us last month for the Local Author Book Fair, and we were able to snag a few copies of her novels to restock our indie and local section. We have sold out of Cheyenne’s books two or three times since we started carrying them, so if you like historical fiction, come and snag your copies today!

Upcoming Events
-Book Signing with Nita Sweeny. Postponed. Acclaimed local author and mental health advocate Nita Sweeny was planning to join us this month for a book signing, but has asked the event to be postponed due to a health emergency. We will keep you updated as we work to reschedule this event. Please join us in wishing Nita a speedy recovery! We can’t wait to host this event soon ❤️
–Dustin Nanna Campaign Event. October 14th, 7pm-9pm. Local city council candidate Dustin Nanna will be hosting a Meet and Eat event in our space after hours on Saturday, October 14th! Please note that Griffeys’ Book Emporium does not endorse any specific candidate or viewpoint; we wish to facilitate healthy local political discussion both in our store and in the community beyond.
–Spooky Open Mic Night. October 20th, starting at 6:30pm. Join us for another exciting open mic night, this time with a seasonal theme! Participants are encouraged to bring a spooky story, poem, song, etc. to perform, though the spooky theme is not mandatory. We’re excited to see what everyone has to share! You can sign up for a timeslot online here or in store.
–Dungeon Master Workshop with Brian Fox. October 21st, 1pm-4pm. Calling all Dungeon Masters! Level up your DM skills and delight your players with tips and tricks from experienced Dungeon Master Brian Fox in this free workshop. We will also be scouting for experienced DMs who would be interested in helping us restart our Wednesday night Youth D&D sessions.
–Board Game Night. October 27th, 6pm-`10pm. Join us for an evening of fun and friendly competition! Bring your favorite game or borrow one of ours.
-Intermediate D&D Group. Every Wednesday, 7pm-10pm. Join us on Wednesday nights after hours for our Intermediate D&D 5e group! The group operates on a drop in/drop out basis, and we always post recaps of the sessions in our D&D Facebook group. $5 per player.
Other Announcements
-No Gathering Market this month. Unfortunately, our market coordinator Maggie has had to cancel this month’s Gathering Market, due to some vendors having to pull out at the last minute. The market will return in November and again in December for a special holiday market! We are constantly working to make these markets the best they can be, so drop us a line if you have any ideas, or if you are interested in vending you can sign up here.
