Hello everyone! I’m a little late to the game this month, but it’s time for our regular monthly rundown of what’s new and what’s coming up here at Griffeys’!

What’s New in Store

-Big history restock! Thanks to a generous friend of the store, we have a ton of new (to us) history books in the store right now. If you’re a history buff, now’s your time to stop by and peruse the stacks.

-D&D Night every Wednesday. Join us for some good old-fashioned adventuring every Wednesday night from 6-10pm! Right now we have an intermediate game DMed by the intrepid David Griffey (my husband and co-owner of Griffeys’ Book Emporium), and Beginner/Youth sessions are in the works as well; we are hoping to launch them in October. Upcoming Events

–September Gathering Market. September 9th, 11am-5pm. Join us this month for an awesome indoor craft market featuring local vendors, makers, and artisans!

–Island of Doom Escape Room. September 16th, 7:30pm. We’re trying something new again! In partnership with Not Too Board, we are transforming the bookstore into an escape room for one night only. It’s going to be a great evening! Get tickets here.

–Open Mic Night. September 22nd, 6:30pm. Join us once again in sharing your talents with the local community! Please sign up for a slot here if you’re interested.

–Book Signing with Leslie Anne Alexander. September 23rd, 3pm. Local author Leslie Anne Alexander is coming back to Griffeys’! Leslie was the first author we ever hosted here, so it’s fitting that she should return to the store during our anniversary month. Copies of her paranormal suspense novel White Lantern are available in store now!

–Board Game Night. September 29th, 6pm-10pm. Join us for an evening of fun and friendly competition! Bring your favorite game or borrow one of ours.

–Local Author Book Fair. September 30th, 11am-4pm. Visit with and support a wide variety of local and/or indie authors here at Griffeys,’ including Toni Marconi, Cheyenne Van Langvelde, Brent Bill, and more! For a complete list of attending authors, check out the official Facebook event feed.

Other Announcements

-Thank you all for one year of Griffeys! Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get this newsletter out until after our anniversary, but that does give me an opportunity to thank every one of you for your kindness and support over the past year. There were many junctures in our business journey where we never thought we’d make it to this point, and to be here is just amazing. Thank you also to everyone who came and visited us on Monday for our anniversary celebration. We wouldn’t be here without all of you.

-Google review request. If you have been to Griffeys’ and enjoyed your time here, we would love it if you could write us a positive review over on our Google Maps page. Every review helps more people in Delaware to find out about us, and even a year in we are still running into many folks who never knew we were here! Google reviews are a great way to help us raise awareness of the store. Thank you in advance 🙂
