Looking Forward: A Monthly Collection of News and Updates

Hello everyone! We’re trying a new format of monthly newsletter-type posts to keep everyone in the loop about updates to the store, new arrivals, upcoming events, etc. So without further ado, let’s dive right into it!

What’s New in Store

Leather bound classics. Thanks to a generous friend of the store, we now have an entire shelf of beautiful leather bound Eaton Press classics! They’re all used, but most are in like-new condition, and all of them are gorgeous. They are already flying off the shelves, so drop in soon to get these before they’re gone!

GBE pins and stickers. If you want to show your support for GBE on your hat, bag, laptop, or water bottle, now you can! We have three lovely sticker designs ($1.00 for the small designs, $1.50 for the large logo design) and two cute pin designs ($1.49 each) available here in store for the first time since our pop-up events last fall.

Vintage hardcovers. We now have a small section dedicated entirely to vintage hardcover books (plus a few collectable slipcase editions), and they are selling fast! If you’re looking for a unique piece of history, a rarer book that’s not going to cost you hundreds of dollars, or simply something beautiful to adorn your bookshelf, the vintage corner is the place to look.

Upcoming Events

GBE’s First Annual Easter Egg Hunt. March 31st, 11am-12:30pm. Bring the kids for a fun Easter egg hunt here in store! Every egg contains a prize, and the special Golden Egg contains the best prize of all: a $10 Griffeys’ gift card! I’m already thinking of clever places to hide eggs; it’s going to be so much fun!

The April Gathering Market. April 8th, 11am-5pm. The Gathering Market is back for April, just in time to find special gifts for everyone’s Easter basket! As of this writing, we still have two vendor spots open, and the vendor fee is just $30. You can apply on our market coordinator’s website here.

Board Game Night. April 21st, 5pm-8pm. We’re trying something new in April: a board game night! We will have chess and a selection of other games available—or bring your own—and hang out with us at the store until 8pm.

Open Mic @ GBE. April 28th, 6pm-8pm. Another idea we’re planning to try out this month. Bring some poetry, a piece of micro fiction, or your acoustic guitar, and participate in our first ever open mic night! We’re requesting that everyone keep their selections to a PG-13 level (no excessive language or explicit material), as we try to maintain a family-friendly environment 🙂

Other Announcements

We’re writing a book! We were so excited to finally announce this, and you can read more details (including the blurb) right here. But yes, we are writing a book of our very own, and we will be sharing more about that in the coming months.

We’re getting married! After a rather long engagement (over a year and a half), we (Aria and David) will be getting married this May! As such, the store will be closed on May 5th and 6th for our rehearsal and ceremony, respectively. We will be out of town the following week, but the store will remain open, thanks to our wonderful families, and the May Gathering Market will still be taking place on May 13th. We hope that you will continue supporting the store while we are gone and visit our families while they allow us to take some long-awaited time off for our honeymoon!

And that’s a wrap on our first monthly newsletter/collection post! Thank you so much for reading. The plan is not for these posts to replace other blog posts about events, updates, etc. but rather to supplement them and gather all the news into one place every month. Please let us know if you have any ideas or feedback, and we look forward to seeing you in-store very soon!
