December is here, ushering in the Christmas season! We have a couple of holiday events coming up, as well as some special shopping hours, so read on for a rundown of what’s coming up at Griffeys’ Book Emporium:

Upcoming Events

–Holiday Paint Party. December 7th, 4pm-6pm. Please join us for our final paint party of the year with Paint with Ashlea. Ashlea will expertly guide you through creating your very own holiday-themed masterpiece, no experience required! Tickets are just $25 and walk-ins are welcome.

–The Christmas Market. December 14th, 11am-3pm. Our third annual Christmas Market is coming up soon! Shop a selection of local vendors right here inside the bookstore and find locally made gifts and goodies for everyone on your list.

–Christmas Eve Shopping Hours. December 24th, 11am-5pm. We will be open special hours on Christmas Eve so you can get any last minute shopping in!

Please note that there will be no Open Mic Night this month! We are planning to have the next one in January 2025.

Other Announcements

-Holiday Hours. Besides our special Christmas Eve hours, here are a couple more hour fluctuations to keep in mind this month:
CLOSED on December 25th for Christmas Day.
Open limited hours on December 26th (11am-3pm), regular hours the rest of the week.
Open limited hours on New Years Day, January 1st (11am-3pm), regular hours the rest of the week.

-Shop small (and local) this holiday season! We recently made a social media post highlighting a few of our favorite local Delaware businesses, places where we (Aria and David Griffey of GBE) actually shop. It’s easy for us as small business owners to talk about shopping small and local, but we wanted to share a few of the ways that we actually do it in our everyday lives. There are so many incredible business in Delaware, and they all need and deserve your Christmas commerce way more than any Big Box Store or Online Retail Giant owned by billionaires. So as you’re making your lists, checking them twice, and settling in for the Christmas shopping season, why not support local while you’re at it? It’s twice as nice 🙂
