Hello everyone! This is definitely not a post I expected to write, but I have some news to share a little earlier than I thought I would.

Our baby, Eleanor Grace Griffey, was born unexpectedly last week! As she was due in mid June, we were all caught a little off guard, but that has certainly not diminished our excitement in welcoming her into the Griffey family. She is doing very well, but, since she is preterm, our transition to life with baby has not been as quick or as smooth as we had hoped for.

Currently, we are both on parental leave through at least the beginning of June so that we have plenty of time to look after Eleanor. I will still be checking emails, messages, and social media, but response times may be longer, and I will not be in the shop to work on rebinding commissions for at least the next week or so. We deeply appreciate your patience and continued support as we navigate this unexpected transition. We had hoped to be much more prepared, but obviously God had other plans. 🙂

What’s happening at the shop?

Happily, just because David and I are on leave, doesn’t mean you can’t continue to enjoy Griffeys’ Book Emporium! Thanks to both of our wonderful families, the store will be open regular hours (11am-7pm Tuesdays through Saturdays) while we are out. Make sure you stop in, see what’s new, and find yourself a great read ^_^

If you are interested in participating in our donation and trade-in program during this time, we would ask that you schedule an appointment so that David and I can be sure to be present when you bring in your books. There is currently no availability in May, due to our leave, but you can schedule something in June or later and we would be happy to see you!

Also, we do still have some events coming up, both this week and next! We have decided to cancel the May Open Mic night, since Aria will not be there to host, but Silent Book Club will be meeting tomorrow night at 6pm, and you are welcome to join Phil Griffey, our resident board game expert, for Board Game Night on Friday the 31st. Finally, David will be setting up a table at Oak and Brazen’s Boozy Book Fair on Thursday the 30th! Make sure you stop in for great drinks, great food, and great local vendors.
