I (Aria) have a special place in my heart for May, seeing as it’s my birthday month, and I’m very pleased to say that we have some lovely things happening in May here at Griffeys’! Here’s the rundown:
Upcoming Events
–The Mother’s Day Market. May 4th, 11am-3pm. Our second market of the year is taking place just in time for Mother’s Day! Come shop for gifts from a selection of local vendors, makers, and artisans, plus grab a delicious bubble tea from our beverage vendor Bubble Bee.
–Book Launch with Cheyenne Van Langevelde. May 10th, 6pm-7pm. Join us in celebrating the launch of local author Cheyenne Van Langevelde‘s latest novel Urram: Rekindled Hope. Urram is the second book in the Princess of the Highlands trilogy, a historical fiction series set in the Scottish Dark Ages, and I personally cannot wait to read it! You can be sure to expect adventure, atmospheric writing, and maybe some romance… 🤔😉
-Silent Book Club. May 11th and May 23rd, 6pm-8pm. Just what it sounds like: An introvert-friendly evening of socialization, which mostly involves silently reading a book of your choice in the cozy company of others. Please plan to join us for one (or both) of these lovely events!
–Open Mic Night. May 24th, starting at 6:30pm. Join us once again in sharing your talents with the local community! We will be taking a break from Open Mic Night in June, so if you have something to share, make sure you sign up for a slot in May here.
–Board Game Night. May 31st, 6pm-9pm. Join us for an evening of fun and friendly competition! Bring your favorite game or borrow one of ours. Please note the adjusted timeframe this month ^_^
Other Announcements
-Beta read our book! You may remember a while back we announced our book project; a steampunk adventure novel we were hoping to release in early 2024. Obviously, that didn’t end up happening, which isn’t unsurprising given the ambitious timeline and our ever growing list of personal and business commitments! However, we have not been idle: we are currently in the last stages of revising our latest draft, which we are planning to send out to beta readers within the next couple of weeks. Which means, if you want to be among the first people to read our novel, you’re in luck! We are currently looking for a few more beta readers to give us feedback on our current draft and act as a sort of “focus group” for the novel as we continue to edit it into its final form. If your interested, please check out this link for more information, and to sign up as a beta reader!
